Monarch Therapy Services employs a staff of 19. Each individual has obtained their Bachelor's Degree, and many have earned their Master's. Monarch's staff averages 13 years of experience.
Rusty Eddy, LBSW
Rusty received his BA in Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa and has worked in the field since 1993. Rusty has a background which includes certifications in addictions counseling, and history of family-based services. Rusty Eddy and Kate Haberman co-founded Monarch Therapy Services in 2010. Rusty provides BHIS and is the in-home service director.
Kate Haberman, LISW, MFT, RPT
Kate received her Master’s Degree in Social Work/Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. Kate has been providing psychotherapy since 2001 in community, clinic and private practice settings. In 2010, Kate co-founded Monarch Therapy Services, Inc. with Rusty Eddy. Along with being the Clinical Director at Monarch Therapy Services, Kate specializes in anxiety, attachment and trauma, sexuality and gender issues and couples and family therapy. Kate facilitates most of the psychoeducation and community education opportunities at Monarch Therapy Services. In addition to her work, Kate is a former foster parent, and parent of a 7-year-old and 3-year-old twins.
Veronica Uthe, BHIS
Veronica graduated from William Penn University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and English. She previously worked as an in-home personal caregiver, an EMT and an educational instructor for grades 7-12 before taking a position as a teacher’s associate. Veronica currently serves on the Board of Directors and the Southern Regional Advisory Committee with Hospice of North Iowa (Mason City). She has provided BHIS with Monarch Therapy Services since 2015, working with clients 8-16 years old and their families.
Stephanie Eslick, LMFT
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Stephanie works to provide hope for individuals and families in a safe and therapeutic environment. Her background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Family Systems and a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her previous experience including group counseling, BHIS, FSRP, and therapy. Stephanie is certified in Autplay, practice Adlerian Play Therapy with clients, and utilizes a family systems approach to working with individuals and families to help them reach therapeutic goals. She has experience working with trauma, abuse, marital discord, autism, depression, anxiety, parenting difficulties, and stress-management.
Denis Bruflodt, LMHC
Denis has been a therapist with Monarch Therapy Services since August of 2015. He works with clients of all ages, backgrounds and belief systems. Denis and his wife have been married since 1993 and have raised two sons. He spent the first twenty years of his adult life as management with big box retail. In addition to the required education, Denis brings years of practical life application to the therapy room.
Holly Meyer - BHIS
Holly graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She has a post bachelor’s certificate in counseling and currently attends graduate school to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Holly has worked with Monarch Therapy Services since April of 2012. She has additional trainings that include trauma informed training and trainings specializing in reactive attachment disorder. Holly has provided BHIS services to many counties in the area including: Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Franklin, Floyd, Grundy, and Hardin counties. When not working she enjoys spending time with my husband and daughter.
Chris Wardlow - BHIS
Chris has been a BHIS provider with Monarch since 2010. He has over 17 years of experience working with children and families in various settings including correctional settings, a residential treatment facility and school setting.
Holly Wardlow, LISW
Holly has been a therapist for Monarch since 2010. She also serves as the Clinical Supervisor for BHIS services. Holly has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work as well as a Master's Degree in Social Work both from the University of Northern Iowa. Holly has over 15 years of experience working with children and families. Holly has experience working with children and individuals with anxiety, attachment issues and co-dependency in relationships.
Stacy C. Wilson, LMHC
Stacy has worked in the social services since 2001, In May 2017, she began
working specifically as a mental health counselor. Stacy is happy to work with
people of any age dealing with any issue. That being said, her areas of
interest and experience are domestic abuse, sexual assault, sexual
orientation, gender identity, trauma and attachment. Stacy currently sees
clients in the Waverly and Waterloo offices.
Jonna Gutnecht, BA
Jonna is a recent graduate of UNI with a BA in social work. She
is a mother and grandmother. Her words to live by are: Where there is a
will, there is a way.
Tuyet Noriega, LMHC, temp
Tuyet graduated with two BA's in 2006, Interpersonal Communications and Theories
of Religion. She graduated with honors in 2006 with a MA in Mental Health
counseling. Tuyet has worked in several locations across northeast Iowa
within the counseling fields.
Kristy Luiken, ABA
Business Office Manager
Kristy earned an AA in the Administrative Field from AIC buisness
school in 1997 and has worked in the field since then. Kristy and her husband have been married
since 2014. They, along with her three boys, reside on an acreage outside
of Aplington. She has always gravitated towards jobs that relate to helping
others. Working for Monarch Therapy has been a great opportunity for her,
even though she does not work directly with clients.
Denelle McWherter, BSW, MA
Danelle has a BA in social work and a Masters in school counseling from University of Nothern Iowa. She has been working in the counseling field for 18 years.
David Price, MA, BS
David has been working with at risk youth and their families since 1993. His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Simpson College and a Masters degree in Criminology from Central Missouri State University. David's knowledge in the areas of adolescent behavior not only comes from educational experience, but from extensive research and hands on work.
Aside from working in the BHIS field for 7 years, he has been a full time School Liaison Interventionist for the past 15 years in the school districts of New Hampton, Waverly Shell Rock, and presently in Aplington-Parkersburg. This position involves working with students on behavioral, attendance, and academic issues predominately in middle school.
Makeba Scott, BSW
Makeba obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa. She has experience in assisting brain injured and mental health clients at Exceptional Persons Inc. and Allen Behavioral Health. As a Social Worker, she is very passionate about helping all people maintain a healthy lifestyle!
Janelle Eddy, LBSW
Janelle graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1996 and was a foster parent for
10 years. She has worked extensively with families whose primary concerns are
related to chemical dependancies and how that can effect their children.
Valerie Thorne, MS,MS
Valerie has been a BHIS provider for Monarch Therapy since 2011. She has
experience as a substance abuse counselor and art therapist. She has a
master of Science degree in Art therapy and a master of science degree in
Clinical psychology, both from Emporia state University in Emporia Kansas.
